Foster Care

Gwen's Girls has added Foster Care to our continuum of services. For the girls already in our services who need this level of care, a Gwen's Girls foster care placement maintains the continuity of care as defined by their individual needs and pathway plan. For those new to Gwen's Girls, our expertise in providing comprehensive, gender-specific services and support will be applied to realities of foster care. Our knowledge of each girl’s unique history, her strengths, weaknesses and needs will serve to ensure a successful foster care experience. Gwen's Girls also accepts boys into our foster care program if they are part of a sibling group that includes a girl.

Gwen's Girls Foster Care Program offers caring, committed families an opportunity to open their homes to children in need and to offer both the children and their birth families a new understanding of family life. Gwen's Girls coordinates all services with the placing agency, foster family, birth family, and other service providers to meet the child’s needs in the least restrictive environment.

The objectives of our Foster Care Program are:

		Coordinate the best match for children with foster families; which considers culture, community/family ties, and meeting a child’s individual needs.
		To support and facilitate efforts in achieving a permanency goal for each child through a collaborative effort involving the placing agency, birth family, foster family, and other service providers.
		Provide foster families with on-going support through trainings and bi-weekly home visits.
		Work cooperatively with foster families to ensure safe home environments for children – which promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
		Provide children with the foundation and tools to maintain healthy relationships and positive pathways.
