After-School
Program
In addition to an individual approach,
Gwen's Girls After-School Program incorporates a group approach.
Groups are opportunities for girls to come together with peers with
similar challenges and ambitions, get help with their homework,
learn life skills, discover their unique talents, and have
fun. We know that a girl's peers are one of the major
influences in her life. Providing girls with a safe
environment in which to build healthy relationships can make all
the difference in the decisions she makes and the future she
chooses.
In our After-School Program, we provide
psycho-educational/therapeutic groups, activities and experiences
in a peer group setting. Topics covered are based on the Ten Life
Domains. Subjects covered include: Healthy Relationships, Being a
Girl, Body Image, Honoring our Diversity, Expressing Individuality,
Paths to the Future, Hygiene, STD and HIV Awareness, Nutrition,
etc.
We also know
the more support we can offer to each of our girls, the better the
chance she has of realizing and reaching her potential. Other
groups, workshops, and projects offered in our After-School Program
